U.S. to Sell $108 Million in Military Assistance to Taiwan

According to a report on July 15th, the Pentagon announced on Friday that the U.S. Department of State has approved a potential sale of military technical support to Taiwan for an estimated $108 million.

As the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has never given up employing force to take control of Taiwan. The self-governing, democratical island has complained the growing military pressure from Beijing, forcing it to accept the CCP regime.

There are no formal official relations between the United States and Taiwan. However, under U.S. law, Washington is required to provide Taiwan with the means to defend itself, and Biden’s administration has pledged to increase engagement with the island.

Taiwan requested U.S. military aid from the government and contractors, including tank and combat vehicle repair and spare parts, as well as technical and logistical support, stated by the Pentagon.

According to a statement from the Pentagon’s Defence Security Cooperation Agency, the proposed sale will enable the recipient to maintain its vehicle, small arms, combat weapon system, and logistical support items, improving its capacity to counter present and potential challenges.Additionally, it would improve Taiwan’s military cooperation with the US and other allies. The island’s armed forces would have no trouble utilizing the supplies and assistance. The sale of inexpensive, portable, resilient, or asymmetric battle force weapons that could outperform any initial onslaught by a sizable CCP army has been encouraged by successive U.S. administrations. This is to push Taiwan to modernize its military and make it more difficult for the CCP to invade.
