Ukrainian PM Calls for Rebuilding Ukraine with Confiscated Russian Assets

According to a report, on July 4th in the “Ukraine Recovery Conference” held in Lugano, southern Switzerland, Ukrainian Prime Minister Shmyhal said that it would cost over 750 billion U.S. dollars (about 101.7 trillion yen) to rebuild his country due to the damage caused by Russian invasion. He also called for confiscation and freezing of the assets of Russian government and its new oligarchs for reconstruction of Ukraine. However, using the frozen Russian assets to rebuild Ukraine would be very difficult in practice, as there are many legal issues to be resolved in each country.

Comments: Now the discussion on how to distribute the ceased Russian overseas assets has started, could we see it as the end of the Russian-Ukrainian war and the beginning of a global economic recovery when all countries involved finished developing the corresponding assets allocation bills? It seems the meeting held in Switzerland is a prelude for the end of the Ukraine war. Currently the global economy is suffering from high inflation and on the verge of collapse, comparing to governments’ economy stimulus plan, rebuilding Ukraine might a better choice. The devastated Ukraine waiting for restoration will become the center of the Europe, said Miles Guo not long ago. Brainstorming, could this be establishing the framework for rational allocation of Chinese Communist Party (CCP)’s overseas assets?
