Japan Eases Travel Warning For 34 Countries, Including Communist China

According to Kyodo News on July 1st, the Japanese government eased travel warnings for 34 countries including the Communist China, South Korea and India due to the coronavirus pandemic on Friday, and no longer asked Japanese residents to avoid traveling to these countries for non-essential trips.

For France, Germany, Italy and 11 other European countries, the foreign ministry also lowered its travel warning for one level to the lowest of four, and advising Japanese traveling to these areas to “stay fully alert”.

Together with the 36 countries and territories including US, UK, Canada, and Hong Kong, for which Japan has already moved the travel warning to the lowest level in late May, now the total number of areas of Tier 1 category has increased to 70.

Two days after resumption of the flights between Seoul’s Gimpo Airport and Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, which has been suspended for over 2 years due to Covid restrictions, the warning to South Korea was loosened.

Currently, 90 countries and territories are still under Level 2 warning, 16 of them are from Asia or Oceania, such as Taiwan, Indonesia and Australia, and 27 from Europe. All 41 countries under the level 3 warning urging residents to avoid all travel, remain unchanged.
