NATO Summit Next Week to Discuss the Rise of China

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said NATO leaders will discuss “the rise of China” at next week’s summit in Madrid, Spain, according to a report on June 22nd.

In an online interview with Politico on Wednesday, Stoltenberg said the conversations were a “big step” and that he believed We will address China, and under the consequences for our security, I think I would understand that for NATO,” he explained. “This is a big step because in the current strategic concept, China’s not mentioned with a single word. That concept was agreed at the summit in response in 2010.”
