Burial of Civilians Next to a Strategic Point in Eastern Ukraine

As Russian troops aim to completely control the province of Lugansk in eastern Ukraine, a large number of civilians were killed in the fierce fighting in Sievierodonetsk and Lyssytchansk, which are adjacent to the Donets River. The city appears to be completely destroyed by the current indiscriminate bombardment. Report on the 16th, a “mass grave” of about 300 civilians was found here.

According to sources, about 300 people were killed in bombardment in Lyssytchansk, Sievierodonetsk and Rubizhne in Lugansk Oblast. During the battle, it was not possible to create a graveyard for each dead person, who were temporarily buried by the Ukrainian army.

Governor of Lugansk announced on the 17th, in a social media that the Cultural Center in Lyssytchansk was attacked and unfortunately, 3 more refugee civilians died tragically.

“We are civilians and not soldiers,” said Eugenia Panichewa, a resident of Lyssytchansk, who was interviewed by a U.S. Government-affiliated radio station.

Maxim Catlin, who stayed to take refuge, said angrily, “Why bomb us?” “People could take refuge was evacuated, but many have remained because they have nowhere to go or to protect their homes,” said resident Andrei Abakumov.
