Germany and Britain to Establish Multinational Combat Forces

According to German media reported June 16th, German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht called on NATO allies to support Germany’s efforts to establish a multinational combat force in Lithuania during the NATO defense ministerial meeting in Brussels.

The three Baltic countries including Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are also threatened by Russia as they have been at the forefront of Russian sanctions since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

NATO has already established multinational combat forces in the three Baltic states as well as neighboring countries. Similarly, Britain has stated it may send more troops to Estonia and will lead a force, echoing Germany’s plans in Lithuania.
