Communist China’s Dismal 618 Shopping Day

June 18 is one of the biggest shopping festivals of the first half of the year in Communist China, second only to the Double 11 (November 11) shopping festival at the end of the year. In previous years, a competition of sales data among major e-commerce platform happens online, and is also an important time for platforms to show off their statistics. This year’s 618 festival, which has just passed, went away in depression.

As of the evening of June 18, only one e-commerce company, JD.com, has released its 618 sales data, which was 379.3 billion, compared to 343.8 billion last year. JD said this data reached another record high. But for countless stores actually operating on e-commerce platforms, supply chain disruptions, work stoppages, labor shortages, and so many problems, the only goal for the merchants is to survive.

Some big brands’ sales managers cannot even predict the future sales volume, and of course they are unable to prepare accordingly, and the whole market is in chaos. Keep the regular customers, cash flow, and make ends meet have become extremely difficult. Communist China’s largest livestream merchandising internet celebrity was recently blocked for selling a tank cake, which has brought a cold snap to the gradually recovering consumer market. Various signs have revealed that the degree of economic decline in Communist China is much worse than expected.
