U.S. Provides Ukraine Additional $1 Billion Weapons

According to sources on June 16th, the White House said in a report on June 15th that U.S. President Biden directly notified the additional weapons support policy in a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. President Biden said he would support Ukraine’s $1 billion defense of Donbas, including cutting-edge rocket systems and ammunition. In this regard, President Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude in the video speech of the day and said “it will be used for the defense of the Donbas region.”

On the same day, the U.S. Department of Defense also announced an additional security support of $1 billion for Ukraine, and stated that the $350 million in the additional security support would allow the U.S. president to transfer defense arms. It was said that it was in accordance with a Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA).

Relevant supported weapons include:

△ 18 155mm howitzers

△ 36,000 of 155mm artillery shells

△ 18 tactical vehicles towing howitzers The remaining $650 million in aid will be disbursed through the Ukrainian Security Assistance Initiative fund. Relevant support includes:

△ education, transportation funds, etc.

In addition to weapons support, Ukraine will also be provided humanitarian aid worth 225 million U.S. dollars, including medical supplies and food. So far, since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24th this year, the United States has provided Ukraine with a total of $5.6 billion in aid. The U.S. government had previously pledged about $6.3 billion in aid to Ukraine.
