Protest at Beijing International Studies University Was Suppressed by Police

According to posts on Gettr, on May 9, faculty and students at Beijing International Studies University (BISU) staged a massive protest. Multiple videos circulating on the Internet showed that students and faculty gathered at BISU’s campus in DingFuZhuangNanLi, Chaoyang District, Beijing to protest against the university’s arbitrary decision to erect an isolation fence. However, the protest was forcibly stopped after a swarm of Chinese Communist Party (CCP) police arrived at the site on the same day, threatening participants and engaging in forceful suppression.

In one footage, an official was speaking into a megaphone, threatening protesters that the gathering was forbidden during the epidemic period; further, if protesters did not dismiss after three warnings, the police would perform a mandatory “clearance” and “resolute crackdown”. After the second warning from the police, some faculty and students were forced to leave. Some students shouted angrily, “there is no place for reasoning.”
