Number Of Marxist Institutes Surge in CCP Universities

Internationally, the CCP uses the reputation of Confucius to promote its red ideology through the Confucius Institutes and gain maximum international benefits. Domestically, the CCP has used the reputation of Confucius to promote so-called Marxist theories by widely establishing Marxist institutes within universities, increasing funding, enhancing related faculty construction, and brainwashing as many college students as possible.

In 1992, the CCP established the first Marxist institute at Peking University, and the number has grown to 100 by 2012. After the 18th CCP National Congress, under Xi Jinping’s personal deployment, Marxist colleges blossomed everywhere, increasing to 280 in 2015, 653 in 2017, and rapidly increasing to more than 1,440 in 2021. In just 10 years, the number of Marxist colleges in universities nationwide has increased 14 times.

In 2016, the CCP held conferences on ideological and political work in colleges and universities, and the number of teachers for Marxism courses nationwide increased significantly. The average annual growth rate of teachers of Marxism courses in colleges and universities from 2016 to 2020 reached 14.4%. By the end of November 2021, more than 127,000 full-time and part-time teachers of ideological and political courses in colleges and universities were registered. By the end of 2021, the overall teacher staffing reached a teacher-student ratio of 1:350.In terms of funding, from 2016 to 2020, the direct investment of the central government in the construction of ideological and political courses in colleges and universities amounts to RMB 470 million yuan. Among them, from 2016 to 2019, the Ministry of Propaganda and the Ministry of Education built 37 national key Marxist colleges with 110 million yuan; the Ministry of Education invested special funds of nearly 150 million yuan in total to the construction of ideological and political courses in colleges and universities.

In the past 10 years, with the rapid development of Marxist institutes, the CCP has brought Marxism into campuses, classrooms, and students’ minds to cultivate college students to embrace the leadership of the CCP in an attempt to train qualified builders and successors for the CCP to perpetuate its dictatorial rule.
