Pelosi Meets With Zelenskyy in a Surprise Visit to Kyiv

According to reports on May 1st, a congressional delegation led by U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi suddenly visited Kyiv to meet with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy before traveling to Poland to meet with officials.

Pelosi, who is the second in line to the US presidency, is the highest-level US leader known to visit Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The visit by Pelosi indicates that the United States will fully support Ukraine’s counterattack against Russian aggression. During a meeting with Zelenskyy, Pelosi said: “We believe that we are visiting you to say thank you for your fight for freedom. We are on a frontier of freedom and your fight is a fight for everyone. Our commitment is to be there for you until the fight is done.”
