The disclosures during this period appeared to strengthens deterrence against China to amid concerns over the possibility of a Chinese military invasion of Taiwan following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Taiwan began a mass production of the land-attacked cruise missile “Hsiung Sheng” with a 1000-1200 kilometers range, which comes with two versions of the warhead:

one is with a high-explosive warhead to hit bunkers and hardened command centers, and the other is with a “dispersal” munition to take out airfield facilities.

The target is not a city but a military facility such as a Chinese army command post, a runway, and a meeting point for Taiwan’s invading forces.

It is reported that by deploying a cruise missile “Hsiung Feng 2E” (estimated range is about 600 km) which has an extended range and an improved ability to break through the air defense network. As a result, it has dramatically boosted the national army’s capacity to delay or paralyze the Communist Party’s forces. Thus, delaying the pace of an invasion of Taiwan, and makes it harder for them to achieve a rapid war.”
