It was reported on April 19 that as Russia launched attacks on eastern Ukraine, U.S. President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister John Johnson, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and other allied leaders held a 90-minute video call on the same day to discuss the ways to further strengthen military aid operations in Ukraine in response.
President Biden is expected to announce another military aid package for Ukraine in the coming days. British Prime Minister Johnson said that he would give Ukraine more artillery support. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that in addition to heavy artillery support, he promised to provide more supplies to Ukraine.
White House press secretary Psaki said in the video call that they are going to coordinate through the G7, the European Union and NATO, to further impose “severe economic costs to hold Russia accountable.” Moreover, the Ukraine war matters to the whole world, not just only European or Western issues, so the conference also discussed how to make non-EU, non-G7 countries aware of the importance of assisting Ukraine.
