UK announces new sanctions on 206 Pro-Russia individuals

In the wake of Russia’s atrocities in Ukraine, the U.K. government issued a statement on Apr 13th, announcing new sanctions on 206 Pro-Russia individuals, including the 178 individuals who propped up Russian-backed illegal breakaway regions of Ukraine, 6 oligarchs, their close associates and employees. In addition, the announcement indicated that on Apr 14th, the U.K. would adopt legislation prohibiting the import of Russian iron and steel, as well as the export of quantum technologies, advanced materials, and luxury goods to Russia. The U.K. Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said sanctions imposed by the U.K. and its international partners played a pivotal role in thwarting Putin’s further invasion of Ukraine.
