
After the United States implemented a new round of sanctions against Russian banks and entities on April 6, US Commerce Department said on April 8 that it will begin requiring Russians and Belarusians to get a special license when seeking to obtain a host of goods from US suppliers and pledged to deny those licenses. The goods include fertilizer, pipe valves, ball bearings and other parts, materials and chemicals. The Commerce Department said items made abroad with American tools would also require a US license, which the administration plans to deny. Emily Kilcrease, senior fellow at the Center for a New American pointed out that the Commerce Department now was further restricting Russian access to all items whose export are regulated.
